PARIS: The Indian team entered the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics hockey after some scintillating display from Malayali player PR Sreejesh, who turned into a wall in front of the goal. Sreejesh blocked two vital penalty strokes in the shootout to give India a 4-2 victory in the quarter-final against Great Britain yesterday. India with just 10 players had to form a bulwark to prevent Britain from pervading into gaps. The game went on for more than three hours and India showed perseverance to do the mission impossible and walk with heads high towards the semifinals.

India will face the winners of the quarter between Argentina and Germany. A win in the semi-finals will give India a chance to win gold or silver.

India's Lakshya Sen, who lost to Viktor Axelsen in the badminton semis yesterday, will face Malaysia's Lee Zi Jia in the bronze medal match at 6 pm today.
