154 people yet to be found; 1381 people in relief camps

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Secretary has been tasked to discuss with the senior officers and decide on the further activities of the Indian Armed Forces who are performing well in search and rescue operations in the landslide-hit areas of Wayanad. Speaking at a press conference, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that six dead bodies were recovered from the disaster area on Tuesday. With this, the confirmed death toll has reached 224. 181 body parts have been recovered. 154 people are yet to be found. 88 people are in hospitals. 1381 people are staying in 9 camps in the Chooralmala area.

Other actions
1. Will look into the possibilities of performing DNA tests of unidentified bodies in private labs as well
2. Those staying in school camps will be relocated. Camps will be organized to retrieve lost documents.
3. It will be made sure that the only people visiting the landslide-affected areas are volunteers and officials.
4. Ration shops will be opened in disaster areas. The ration for August will be delivered. Children will be provided with an all-inclusive school kit
5. A 121-member team will come to reduce the trauma of affected people. Six months of free electricity in disaster areas.
