Wife of former Sekul MLA Yamthong Haokip killed in Manipur bomb blast

IMPHAL: Charubala Haokip (59), wife of former Sekul MLA Yamthong Haokip was killed in a bomb blast in Manipur's Kangpokpi on Saturday evening.

The bomb blast took place near Yamthong's residence in Kangpok. The bomb was in the garbage dump of the house. Without knowing this, Charubala burnt the garbage and the bomb exploded. She was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. No one else was reported injured. Further investigation into the incident is underway. Police are investigating whether a family feud is behind the bombing. Charubala is the second wife of Yamthong Haokip.
