Vinay Fort's 'Aattam' pulls surprise win in national awards; Rishab Shetty wins best actor, 'Saudi Vellakka' shines

NEW DELHI: Nobody, even the makers of the movie could believe their ears when the national award jury spelt ‘Aattam’ as the best film in India during 2022. 'Attam', written and directed by Anand Ekarshi, was chosen as the best film. The movie also won awards for best editing and screenplay. In yet another glory for Malayalam movies, ‘Saudi Vellakka CC.225/2009’ was selected as the best Malayalam film for the year 2022. Veteran singer Bombay Jayashri won the Best Female Singer award for this film.

Sreepath won the Best Child Artist award for his role in the Malayalam movie ‘Malikappuram’. Meanwhile, Nithya Menen bagged the Best Actress award for her role in ‘Thiruchitrambalam’.

Rishabh Shetty won the best actor award for ‘Kanthara’ while the movie was also chosen as the most popular film of 2022. 'KGF2' was selected as the best Kannada film while Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan part 1’ was selected as the best Tamil film.
