MALAPPURAM: P V Anwar came forward criticizing after the IPS Association passed a resolution demanding the MLA to tender an apology for insulting district police chief S Sasidharan publicly. ‘Kerala has a map; Malappuram and Nilambur have maps. Do you want mappu (apology) anymore,’ Anwar mentioned in a Facebook post.

Anwar insulted the police chief S Sasidharan publicly at the district conference of the police association. The police chief immediately left the venue. Anwar was to inaugurate the function and SP was the keynote speaker.

Anwar in a fit of rage criticized Sasidharan for delaying the arrest of the accused involved in a theft at the park owned by him. Some from the police department are trying to create sentiments of the people against the government and the chief minister. He accused the officer of deliberately arriving late for the function the two attended. If the SP arrived late as part of his busy schedule, then there is no problem. If he had wanted me to wait, then it is for him to decide. Anwar said that none of these are correct.

Soon after this, the SP ended his speech by saying a few words. I am a bit busy. He left the venue saying that he is not in a mood to deliver a speech. It was Sasidharan who led the human sacrifice case in Pathanamthitta.

Following that, the IPS Association passed a resolution against P V Anwar. The resolution said the MLA tried to tarnish the image of the IPS officers. Anwar publicly admitted that he tried to influence Malappuram SP in several official matters. The MLA’s comments are deeply troubling and unwarranted. The IPS Association's resolution demanded that PV Anwar withdraw his statement and tender an apology. The IPS Association informed that they would file a complaint against the MLA to the chief minister.
