Change in rain warning; Orange alert in three districts, heavy rain likely in Thiruvananthapuram in coming hours
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Change in rain warning in Kerala state. Central Meteorological Department has declared an orange alert in three districts. The orange alert which was earlier announced in six districts has been reduced to three districts. Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts have been warned of heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has been announced in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. No orange alert or yellow alert has been announced for tomorrow in any district.
Meanwhile, IMD has announced a yellow alert in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on the 25th. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast, and thunderstorms are expected. IMD said that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram district in the next three hours and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour.
A cyclonic circulation is located over Lakshadweep. Another cyclonic circulation is located in the Northeast Arabian Sea near Gujarat. A new cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal by August 24. As a result of this, there is a possibility of moderate/average rain with widespread thunder/lightning in Kerala for the next five days. IMD also said that there is a possibility of very heavy rain at isolated places today and heavy rain on August 21 and 25.
