Anvar's 'lathicharge'; Police suffer 'injury'
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major reshuffle has taken place in the Malappuram police, which has been facing allegations of gold smuggling, quotation, and gang rape. MLA PV Anvar had demanded that the police officials facing allegations be transferred. The action comes as the LDF meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
Malappuram District Police Chief S Sasidharan has been transferred to Vigilance Ernakulam Range. Instead, AIG-1 R Vishwanathan from Police Headquarters has been appointed as the District Police Chief. Former SP Sujith Das was earlier transferred to Pathanamthitta following allegations. He is currently under suspension due to a controversy over a phone call with PV Anvar seeking withdrawal of a tree felling case.
Malappuram Crime Branch SP Vikram has been transferred to Excise. Excise's Vigilance Officer K.V. Santhosh has been appointed as the new Crime Branch SP of Malappuram. Eight Deputy Superintendents in Malappuram have also been transferred. Thanur DySP V.V. Benny, who was investigating the Muttil tree felling case, has also been transferred. Benny was facing serious allegations, including a rape complaint filed by a woman. Reshuffling will soon take place at the CI (Circle Inspector) and SI (Sub-Inspector) levels as well.
P Abdul Basheer from Malappuram District Special Branch has been transferred to Thrissur Rural Special Branch. Malappuram DySP A Premjith has been transferred to Thrissur SSb, Perinthalmanna DySP Saju K Abraham has been transferred to Kochi City Traffic, and Thirur DySP KM Biju has been transferred to Guruvayur. Kondotty DySP P Shibu has been transferred to Thrissur Vigilance. Nilambur DySP PK Santhosh has been transferred to Palakkad Crime Branch, Thanur DySP VV Benny has been transferred to Kozhikode Rural District C-Branch, and Malappuram SSb DySP Moosa Vallakadan has been transferred to Palakkad SSb.
KM Praveen Kumar from Palakkad SSb has been appointed to Malappuram District SB, TS Sinoy, DySP of Guruvayur, has been appointed in Malappuram, and TK Shaiju from Thrissur Rural SB has been appointed in Perinthalmanna. Thrissur SSb DySP E. Balakrishnan has been appointed to Thirur, KC Sethu from Thrissur Vigilance has been appointed to Kondotty, G Balachandran from Kozhikode Rural C-Branch has been appointed to Nilambur, Pius George from Kochi Traffic has been appointed to Thanur, and MU Balakrishnan from Palakkad Crime Branch has been appointed to Malappuram SSb.
