THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shashi Tharoor MP reacted to the death of young chartered accountant Anna Sebastian due to overwork. He posted a response on social media with the suggestion of 40 hours of work per week. He also proposes the idea of working eight hours a day, five days a week.

'The conversation with Anna's father CB Joseph was heartbreaking. The woman's death came after four months of continuous stressful work for 14 hours a day. Anna's father demanded that laws should be made regarding fixed working hours in all workplaces and the matter should be raised in Parliament. The father also demanded legislation to provide severe punishment and fines for inhumanity in workplaces. This matter will be raised at the first opportunity in the next session of the Parliament'- he wrote in the post.

A heartbreaking letter written by Anna's mother, Anita Augustine to chairman of Ernst & Young, was discussed in the national media. With this, the central government ordered an inquiry into the death of the woman. Anna's father told the media that they wrote the letter to the chairman so that their daughter's condition does not happen to anyone else.

Meanwhile, an email message sent by an employee of the company to the chairman regarding work pressure came out. The message of a young woman named Nazira Kasi came out. If a complaint is brought before the internal committee, retaliatory measures are taken. The employee demanded that action be taken before there is another Anna.
