DGP's investigation reveals misconduct by ADGP MR Ajith Kumar, report to be submitted to Chief Minister today
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP’s investigation has reportedly found that ADGP MR Ajith Kumar engaged in a secret meeting with RSS leaders, violating the code of conduct and misusing his official position. It is speculated that the DGP may recommend Ajith Kumar's removal from law and order duties or his transfer from the police force.
The DGP has dismissed Ajith Kumar's defense that he met the RSS leaders for official purposes, stating that there was no legitimate reason for such a meeting, as none of the leaders held any formal authority. The DGP is expected to submit his report to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today.
Meanwhile, the Vigilance Department is investigating separate allegations against Ajith Kumar regarding the illegal felling of trees within the premises of the Malappuram District Police Chief’s office and the acceptance of bribes. The investigation is expected to take six months.
Additionally, the Chief Minister is likely to accept the Home Secretary’s recommendation to initiate a Crime Branch investigation into conspiracy allegations related to the Pooram messing up, which also implicate Ajith Kumar.
The controversy surrounding Ajith Kumar's visit to RSS leaders has also led to tension within the ruling LDF. CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam has urged the Chief Minister to take decisive action, demanding the replacement of the ADGP before the Assembly session begins. In a meeting at the AKG Centre yesterday, He made his stance clear to Chief Minister Vijayan, warning that the CPI might be forced to adopt a tougher position if no action is taken against Ajith Kumar.
The Chief Minister has assured that a decision will be made after receiving the DGP’s report. The matter is expected to be discussed further in today’s meetings of the CPI State Executive and the CPM State Secretariat.
