Tensions escalate as Israel marks first anniversary of Hamas attack with bombings on Lebanon and Gaza
TEL AVIV: Today marks the first anniversary of Hamas's lightning attack on Israel, re-igniting tensions in the Middle East. Fearing that Israel would launch a major attack on the first anniversary, they bombed Lebanon and Gaza that year.

Israel stepped up its offensive in southern Lebanon's capital, Beirut. There were heavy explosions here at night. Israel carried out massive airstrikes on Hezbollah's headquarters and arsenals.
On October 7 last year, Hamas launched a heavy rocket attack on Israel. 1200 people were killed and 250 were taken prisoner. Palestinian health sources indicate that 42,000 people have died so far in the counterattack launched by Israel.
