Complaint filed against KT Jaleel over controversial remarks on Muslim involvement in gold smuggling
MALAPPURAM: A complaint has been filed against Thavanur MLA KT Jaleel for his controversial statement that most of the accused in gold smuggling cases belong to the Muslim community. Muslim Youth League leader UA Razak has lodged a complaint with Malappuram SP. The complaint alleges that Jalil's statement defames a nation and community and that Jalil's aim is to create riots by creating religious rivalry.
Jalil said in a press conference yesterday that a prominent Muslim religious scholar from Kerala who had gone for Hajj was arrested by customs officials for bringing back gold hidden in the cover of the Quran.
‘Did not say that all Muslims are gold smugglers. Majority of the cases registered here belong to the Muslim community. They should be told things and understood. When I was a minister, when there were baseless allegations related to gold smuggling, Congress, League and BJP supported it', - this is Jalil's controversial statement.
