Rs 25 lakh contract to kill Salman Khan, accused planned to buy weapons from Pakistan; police file chargesheet
MUMBAI: The Navi Mumbai Police have revealed that Lawrence Bishnoi's gang had offered a Rs 25 lakh contract to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan. This revelation was made in the chargesheet filed by the police, which names five accused. The plan was to kill Salman Khan near his farmhouse in Panvel, Maharashtra.
The accused planned to buy advanced weapons, including AK-47, AK-92, and M-16, from Pakistan to carry out the murder. They also ordered a Turkish-made Zigana pistol, the weapon used to kill Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. The accused had hired minors below 18 years old to kill Salman Khan. These hired assassins are hiding in Pune, Raigad, Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Gujarat. Around 70 people were deployed to track Salman's movements.
The plan to kill Salman Khan was hatched between August 2023 and April 2024. Sukha, who was arrested last Thursday from Panipat in Haryana, had given instructions to shooter Ajay Kashyap and four others involved in the conspiracy to kill Salman. As Salman has heavy security and a bulletproof vehicle, the accused decided to use advanced weapons to carry out the murder. Sukha then contacted Dogar, a Pakistani arms dealer, through a video call. He agreed to purchase advanced weapons, including AK-47, by giving an advance of 50 per cent of the price. The remaining amount would be paid after the weapons arrived in India. The shooters were waiting for instructions from Goldy Brar, a Canadian-based gangster, and Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi's brother.
According to police, the shooters planned to assemble in Kanyakumari after carrying out the murder, then travel to Sri Lanka and eventually escape to a country inaccessible to Indian investigative agencies.
The investigation into the shooting incident outside Salman Khan's Bandra residence led police to uncover details of a conspiracy targeting his Panvel farmhouse. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at Salman Khan's house in Bandra following the murder of former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique.
