NEW DELHI: The anticipatory bail plea of actor Siddique has been adjourned for two weeks. The interim order restraining the arrest will continue during this period. The court also enquired about the eight years’ delay that happened in the case. The complainant’s attorney informed the court that many including his client fear the fact of moving against superstars in films, and it is only after mustering certain courage that they come up with the complaint.

Siddique had submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court on Monday and the hearing was scheduled for today. Siddique stated in the affidavit that he appeared before the investigating officer and handed over the evidence and phone number information in his possession as requested by the police. Siddique meanwhile also clarified not having hold of his old phone or iPad which he used almost a decade back. Siddique had said in his affidavit that the police chased him illegally and a complaint has been filed in this regard.

The state government has reported to the Supreme Court that Siddique has not cooperated with the investigation. The government had informed the Supreme Court that the actor resisted handing over the things requested by the police, including digital evidence.

“Immediate intervention is needed in the case before history treats the actor as a hero, putting behind the dubious conduct and the sufferings of the victim.” said the government to SC. Former Solicitor General Ranjith Kumar appeared for the state government.
