Received bill of Rs 60,000 to get dogs discharged from veterinary hospital; youth tears up Rs 500 currency note

KOCHI: Police have arrested a youth who created a ruckus at a veterinary hospital in Ponnurunni and teared up currency notes. The arrested person has been identified as Kollam native Deepak.

Deepak has been living in a rented house in Mulavukadu for the last five months. 15 animals sponsored by him are undergoing treatment at the veterinary hospital. When he went to the hospital to get two of his dogs discharged, the hospital authorities asked him to pay the bill arrear of Rs 60,000.

Enraged by this, Deepak shouted expletives at the authorities and tore up Rs 500 currency notes. He also shouted saying that he was a cocaine agent. The incident took place on Saturday. The police have registered a case against him for verbally abusing employees and vandalizing public property. He was later presented in court.
