KANNUR: PP Divya, former district panchayat president of Kannur, dismissed conspiracy in raising bribery allegations against the deceased ADM Naveen Babu. During interrogation, Divya clarified that she did not know TV Prasanth, who had been accused of paying bribes to ADM. Divya also denied having any personal interest in the petrol pump owned by Prasanth.

According to Divya, she came to know about Prasanth after he raised the complaint through the panchayat help desk, but denied having any phone conversation with him. The police said that more people may not be charged in the death. The police also stated that they had decided to take the statement of Naveen Babu's family on Sunday.

Divya's interrogation was completed the other day and she was transferred to the women's jail. Divya's bail plea will be heard by the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court on Tuesday.

The Special Investigation Team asked for two days' custody for further questioning, but the Kannur First Class Judicial Magistrate's Court granted time only till 5 pm on Friday.

The police had filed a report against the anticipatory bail stating that Divya was not cooperating with the investigation. Based on that, Town Inspector Sreejith Koderi, the investigating officer, told the court of the need for more statements and clarification on issues such as benami transactions and collector's statements.
