Mallu Hindu WhatsApp group controversy: Vishwa Hindu Parishad comes out in support of IAS officer Gopalakrishnan
NEW DELHI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has come out in support of IAS officer Gopalakrishnan in the Mallu Hindu WhatsApp group controversy. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is also asking whether it is a crime to create a WhatsApp group for Hindus in Kerala.
"The Communist government in Kerala is trying to victimise an IAS officer in the name of creating a WhatsApp group called 'Mallu Hindu'. The official clarified that his mobile was hacked. The messages were not sent to the group. Will the government ban groups created by people of other religions also?" asked VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal. The VHP also asked what action the government has taken against those indulging in anti-Hindu, jihadi and missionary activities.
K Gopalakrishnan, director of the industries department, appeared as the admin of the group called Mallu Hindu Officers. Gopalakrishnan later explained that he had also found that there was a group called Mallu Muslim Offices with him as admin. Following the controversy, the groups were deleted within hours. Gopalakrishnan's explanation is that the hackers formed groups by adding people who were in his phone contacts. However, it is reported that hacking has not been confirmed in the investigation.
Internet service providers also informed the police that IP addresses other than Gopalakrishnan's phone were not used to form the groups. This strengthens the police's suspicion that Gopalakrishnan himself formed the groups. Earlier, WhatsApp had also reported to the police that there was no hacking.
