Surendran should resign and leave instead of expressing willingness to step down, says Sandeep Varier
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sandeep Varier, who quit the BJP and joined the congress party, asked BJP state president K Surendran to step down instead of expressing his willingness to resign. He said Surendran’s willingness to resign is a political drama. He should resign from the post and just leave. His willingness to resign is for publicity, blamed Varier.
‘Expressing willingness to resign is not in the BJP. If one wants to resign, should just resign and inform. Surendran is looking at how he can avoid resignation by expressing to resign. He should resign instead of expressing willingness,' clarified Sandeep.
Surendran expressed his willingness to resign after the poll debacle in Palakkad which is the party's A plus constituency. However, a section supporting him said the central leadership has informed that there is no need for him to resign. There was widespread criticism against Surendran in connection with the defeat in the Palakkad election and the drop in more than 10,000 votes, including in the corporation ruled by the party.
However, it is reported that Surendran has informed the central leadership that the reason for the defeat was Shobha Surendran and the 18 municipal councilors supporting her. Surendran faction also alleged that Shobha Surendran's driver crossed votes in Kannadi panchayat.
