Mortal remains of deceased students brought to Alappuzha Medical College campus; classmates bid emotional farewell

ALAPPUZHA: The mortal remains of the five medical students who died in the Kalarcode accident were brought to the Alappuzha Medical College, where classmates and teachers paid their last respects. The students were visibly shaken as they bid farewell to their deceased friends. The post-mortem procedures were completed by noon, after which the bodies were brought to the college campus.

The public viewing of the deceased students was held at the Central Library Hall of the Medical College. After the public viewing at the college, the bodies of the five students were taken to their respective hometowns. The funeral of the student from Lakshadweep will take place in Ernakulam.

Ministers Veena George, Saji Cherian and P Prasad arrived at the Alappuzha Medical College. The bodies were taken to their hometowns with police escort.

Five first-year students of the Alappuzha Medical College were killed in a car accident on the National Highway near Changanassery Mukku in Kalarcode yesterday. The car in which the students were travelling lost control and crashed into a KSRTC bus. The deceased are Kottayam Poonjar native Ayush Shaji (19), Palakkad native Sreedheep Vatsan (19), Malappuram Kottakkal native B Devanandan (19), Kannur Vengara native Muhammad Jabbar (19) and Lakshadweep native Muhammad Ibrahim (19). Six students were injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment.
