'Dhoni brand'; Former Indian captain surpasses Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan
Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the best players Indian cricket has seen in the 21st century. Dhoni, under whose captaincy the Indian team won the 2011 World Cup, is also the main reason behind the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. Apart from being a great cricketer, Dhoni is also a strong brand in advertising and business.
Even five years after his retirement from international cricket in 2019, Dhoni's brand value has not diminished. Not only has it not decreased, Dhoni is at the top in terms of brand endorsement in India. Dhoni reached the top, surpassing Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. TAM Media Research has released the information that Dhoni is the celebrity who has signed contracts with the most brands in the first half of 2024.
Dhoni tops the list with 42 brand endorsements. Amitabh Bachchan has signed 41 contracts and Shahrukh Khan has 34 contracts. Dhoni has tie-ups with several leading brands like Flipkart-owned Cleartrip, Citroën, EMotorad, drone startup Garuda Aerospace, Lay’s by PepsiCo, Mastercard, Gulf Oil, Orient Electric, and Explosive Whey.
Chennai Super Kings had retained Dhoni for 4 crores for the 2025 IPL season as well. Dhoni was the one who made Chennai the IPL champions in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023 seasons. CSK also retained Ruturaj Gaikwad (18 crores), Shivam Dube (12 crores), Ravindra Jadeja (18 crores) and Matheesha Pathirana (13 crores) in the squad this season.
