'Can attend District Panchayat meetings, no objection to leaving Kannur district'; court relaxes bail conditions for PP Divya
KANNUR: The Thalassery Sessions Court has granted relaxations in the bail conditions for former Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya in the case related to the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The conditions allow her to participate in District Panchayat meetings and leave Kannur district. The order was issued following a petition filed in the Thalassery Sessions Court.
The court also relaxed the condition that required her to appear before the investigating officer on Mondays, allowing her to appear only when requested. Divya, who was named as an accused in the case related to Kannur ADM Naveen Babu's death, was later granted bail by the court. Naveen Babu was found dead by hanging in his quarters on October 15.
Naveen Babu was found dead a day after PP Divya raised allegations of corruption against him during a farewell ceremony. The allegations were related to granting permission for a petrol pump in Chengala. Divya was subsequently booked for abetment to suicide, and after her anticipatory bail was denied, she surrendered to the police. The Thalassery Sessions Court later released her on bail.
