Makaravilakku Festival: Sabarimala Nada to be opened today
SABARIMALA: Sabarimala Nada will be opened at 5 pm today for the Makaravilak Festival. Melshanti Arun Kumar Namboothiri will open the Nada tomorrow at 5 pm in the presence of Sabarimala tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru and Kandararu Brahmadathan, and light the lamp at Srilakam. Then he will go down the 18 steps and light fire in the Aazhi below. After this, the pilgrims will be allowed to go up the pathinettam padi.
Melshanthi Vasudevan Namboothiri will open the Malikappuram temple Nada. There are no special pujas today. Nirmalya darshan and regular abhisheka will be performed tomorrow at 3 am. Then there will be Ganapati homam in the east mandapam. After completing Neiyabhishekam, Ashtabhishekam, Usha pooja, Kalashabhishekam, Kalabhabhishekam and Ucha pooja, the Nada will be closed at 1 pm. It will open at 3 pm. The Pushpabhishekam will begin at 6.30 p.m., after Deeparadhana. Harivarasanam will be sung at 10.50 pm and the nada will close at 11 am.
The Thiruvabharan procession will leave from Pandalam Valiyakoikkal Sri Dharmasastha Kshetram on January 12. The royal representative will accompany the procession in a palanquin. Makaravilakku is on the 14th. Nada opens at 5 pm that day. Then there will be Diparadhana and Makarvilak darshan at Makara Sankrama Sandhya after offering the Thiruvabharanam and Ezhunnallat from Malikappuram to pathinettam padi. Neyabhishekam can be performed till 18th. Pilgrims can visit till 19th. Valiya Guruthy Pooja will be held at Malikappuram on the night of 19th, after Harivarasanam. The Nada will be closed on the morning of the 20th, after the darshan of the Pandalam King's representative.
