Retirement of Malayali Judge; Collegium recommendation to elevate Patna High Court CJ K Vinod Chandran as Supreme Court judge
NEW DELHI: Collegium recommendation to elevate K Vinod Chandran, a Malayali and Chief Justice of Patna High Court, as Supreme Court judge. The decision was taken by the Supreme Court collegium which met today. The file has been sent to the central government for approval of the appointment. Justice K Vinod Chandran started his judicial career from Kerala High Court. His experience as a High Court judge of 13 years was taken into account by the collegium. The action is also to confirm the representation of the judge from the Kerala High Court in the Supreme Court. He started practicing as a lawyer in the courts of Ernakulam Paravur and later shifted to the High Court. Vinod Chandran became a Kerala High Court judge on November 8, 2011. He became Chief Justice of Patna High Court in March 2023. The appointment recommendation comes after Malayali Judge CT Ravikumar of the Supreme Court retired on January 5.
