KOCHI: In a stunning turn of events, businessman Boby Chemmanur hastily exited Kakkanad jail without any fanfare. Although the High Court had granted him bail the day before, Boby opted to stay an additional night in jail as a gesture of solidarity with fellow undertrials who remained in jail due to technical hurdles despite completing their remand period. However, with the court reconsidering the case today and the risk of his bail being revoked, his lawyers acted swiftly, completing the necessary formalities in just ten minutes to secure his release.

The office bearers of the All Kerala Men's Association had been waiting outside the Kakkanad jail to welcome Boby, who had been in jail for six days. A group, including women, had gathered outside with placards and bouquets to greet him. Plans were in place for a grand celebration to mark his release. However, the dramatic turn of events unfolded when Boby did not step out, prompting those waiting to leave by 7 PM.

Boby hastily came out of the jail today morning after the High Court directed his lawyers to appear in court at 10:15 AM. Justice P V Kunhikrishnan’s bench is considering the case suo motu and has instructed all parties, including the defence counsel, to appear in court.

The court strongly criticized Boby for not leaving jail despite being granted bail yesterday. It also issued a stern warning, stating that it would cancel his bail if he continued such theatrics.
