Hit filmmaker Shafi's health condition remains critical
KOCHI: Popular Malayalam film director Shafi’s health condition remains critical. Shafi is still in the intensive care unit with the help of a ventilator. He was admitted to a private hospital in Ernakulam on January 16 due to a severe headache. He was then subsequently diagnosed with internal bleeding and underwent emergency surgery. Shafi is suffering from cancer.
In the past few days, actor Mammootty, CPM state secretary MV Govindan and others reached the hospital and met Shafi. Shafi made his entry to film in 1995 as the assistant director of Rajasenan in the film “Adyathe Kanmani”. In 2001, he became an independent film director with the hit movie ‘One Man Show’.
He is one of the ace directors from the 2000 era who gifted super hit movies like ‘Kalyanaraman’, ‘Thommanum Makkalum’, ‘Chattambinad’, ‘Mayavi’, ‘Merikundaru Kunjadu’, and ‘Two countries’ Shafi last directed Sharafuddin's ‘Anandam Paramanandam’, which hit the theatres in 2022. Late director Siddique is his uncle.
