Internal organs to be shifted to lab, postmortem of tigress under national tiger authority act

WAYANAD: The forest department said the postmortem of the man-eating tigress that killed a woman in Pancharakolly will be conducted as per the procedures of the national tiger authority. A big team will reach the hospital in Kuppadi to conduct the postmortem. A representative of the national tiger authority, a veterinary officer from the hospital and a non-government representative should be present for this. After the postmortem is completed, the internal organs will be sent to the lab for further examination. The real cause of death will be clear only after this report is received.

Dr Arun Zakaria said the exact location of the tiger was found last night. He clarified that it was not practical to sedate the tiger at night and the search was resumed this morning.

The seven-year-old female tigress was found dead. It has to be examined whether the deep wounds on the neck were the only cause of death. Meanwhile, the forest department also suspect that there are more tigers in Pancharakolly. The authorities have asked the people of Pancharakolly to be more alert. The locals had informed the forest department about the presence of a tiger in Bathery the other day. Following that, the forest department had inspected these areas.
