Karanavar murder case; Abin Varkey with allegation that Ganesh Kumar was Sherin's bestie there are two ministers behind commutation
ALAPPUZHA: Youth Congress state vice president Abin Varkey has made allegations against Minister Ganesh Kumar over the remission of the sentence of Sherin, the convict in the Karanavar murder case. Abin Varkey alleged that Ganesh Kumar is suspected of being Sherin's bestie and that the accused's local guardian is in Chengannur.
"Their sentence was commuted raising a suspicion that Ganesh Kumar was Sherin's bestie. Why such a criminal association? What is the connection of a Kerala minister with a criminal woman who is in jail? There has been no response to the allegations that this minister is constantly seeing Sherin," Abin said.
Abin Varkey also alleged that if Ganesh Kumar is Sherin's bestie, then Sherin has a local guardian in Chengannur. Although Abin was not ready to clarify who that was, he hinted that it was a minister. Abin Varkey alleged that the intervention of both of them is what led to the remission of the convicts's sentence.
The decision to release Sherin was made quickly. The recommendation reached the cabinet through the Home Department within a month. Only Sherin's sentence was commuted, leaving behind many deserving people. Even those who had served 20 years remain in prison.
