THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Luxurious life. Exorbitant spending habits without realizing father's financial obligations. Trips in vehicles including Bullet, Royal Enfield Himalayan and Volkswagen due to obsession with automobiles. Insistence on marrying the girl he loved without earning his own income.

This was the assessment of the murdered paternal uncle, Latif, about Afan. They were all disappointed because Afan's attitude did not change even after his father went into debt and could not return from abroad. Despite constant advice, he did not change. Every time Afan was advised, his anger increased. It turned into hatred.

Relatives say that Latif went to Afan's house in a car at around 10 am on the day of the incident. It is suspected that Latif went to advise Afan after learning about his relationship with the girl. Latif's brother-in-law Mansoor said that Latif returned home at around 11 o'clock.

It is reported that Afan reached the house in Chullalam around noon. Afan hit Latif, who was sitting on the sofa in the hall, with a hammer, breaking his skull. Latif was unable to even scream and fell unconscious. At this time, Latif's wife Shahida Beevi came down from the kitchen to the hall. Seeing her husband bathed in blood and Afan standing with a blood-stained hammer, she screamed and tried to escape to the kitchen. In the meantime, Afan killed Shahida Beevi.

Latif's body was seated on the sofa when the police arrived after Afan informed them. Blood that had dripped from his head had soaked the sofa. Shahida Bibi's body was found lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. The post-mortem report said that Latif had been hit on the head several times with a hammer.
