THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Afaan, the accused in the Venjaramoodu massacre case, collapsed in the police station. Afaan collapsed in the washroom of the Pangode police station. He has been shifted to the primary health center in Kallara.

It was first suspected to be a suicide attempt. Afaan did not sleep at night. The doctors said the accused collapsed due to the variation in the blood pressure. The incident happened when he was to be taken to the house in Pangode where he killed his grandmother Salma Beevi, for collecting evidence.

The accused was taken into custody by the Pangode police for three days yesterday in Salma Beevi murder case. The accused, who was in the Poojappura Central Jail, was brought to the Nedumangad court at around 11 am yesterday following a custody application. After the court proceedings, the accused was taken into custody at around 12 and brought to the Pangode police station. He was questioned late night under the leadership of Attingal DySP.

Afaan, who admitted to committing the massacre, reiterated that debt led him to commit the murder. The family's debt and severe grudge towards his paternal grandmother led him to the murder.

He had asked help from her many times, including her gold chain. Afaan said that he killed his grandmother first because she did not give him any money, and although he watches movies, it was not the inspiration for the murder.
