KM Achuthan Namboothiri selected as Chief Priest of Guruvayur

GURUVAYUR: Achuthan Namboothiri (53) of Edappal, Vattamkulam, Muthoor Kavapramarath Mana has been selected as the chief priest for the next six months in Guruvayur temple.

Achuthan Namboothiri, a Sanskrit teacher at Valanchery Higher Secondary School, is also a Bhagavatha acharya. His wife is Nisa, a teacher at Maranchery Govt Higher Secondary School. His only son Krishnadutt is a B.A. student. Out of the 51 applicants for the chief priest position, 44 people appeared for the meeting with the Thantri. After writing the names of 38 people and placing them in a silver pot, the current chief priest Puthumana Sreejith Namboothiri drew the lot. After 12 days of bhajans, the new chief priest will be installed on the night of the 31st of this month.
