Hawk snatches teacher’s hall ticket minutes before departmental test; here’s what happened next
KASARAGOD: A teacher in Kasaragod faced an unexpected ordeal when a hawk snatched her hall ticket moments before her departmental exam. The teacher, who was walking towards the exam hall with the hall ticket in hand, was caught off guard as the hawk swooped down at lightning speed and flew off with it. The incident happened around 7 am yesterday at the Kasaragod Town Government UP School, the exam center for candidates appearing for the headmaster's promotion test scheduled to begin at 7:30 am.
The hawk carried the hall ticket in its claws, moving between a nearby tree and the school pavilion, leaving the teacher in distress. Despite the attempts of onlookers to retrieve the hall ticket, the bird held on tightly. As time ticked closer to the start of the exam, the hawk finally landed on the school office window. The hall ticket slipped from its talons and fell right in front of the teacher. Relieved, she picked it up and rushed to the exam hall just in time.
Interestingly, this particular hawk, a familiar presence at the school, has a reputation for grabbing pens and other items belonging to the students. However, it usually drops these objects after a while. Both children and teachers see the hawk as a companion rather than a menace. It even perches on their wrists occasionally. According to Ram Manohar, the acting headmaster, the bird has never harmed anyone so far.
