Walked along breakwater and assessed functioning; Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and family visit Vizhinjam Port
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the Vizhinjam International Port on Saturday evening. The Chief Minister's visit was ahead of the port being dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 2. Pinarayi Vijayan assessed the functioning of the port. He was accompanied by his wife Kamala, daughter Veena and grandson Ishan.
The Chief Minister and his family observed the port activities by travelling through the sea in the tug boat Dolphin 29 of the port company. They walked a few meters along the breakwater and viewed the ships at the berth. They visited the operation and control centres, the yard and the berth.
The Chief Minister personally comprehended the activities including container removal. He also saw the working methods of the cranes. The sea voyage was later. It started from near the berth. He returned after reaching the two ships at the berth.
