"We will return with more than 100 seats in 2026; I have requests to Chief Minister": VD Satheesan with sharp criticism
MALAPPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan sharply criticized the state government at the UDF convention in Nilambur. He said that there has been corruption worth crores on the national highway. VD Satheesan also clarified that UDF will return with more than a hundred seats in 2026.
'My request to the Chief Minister is that... there is no medicine in the hospital. The government has to pay crores to the Medical Services Corporation. That is why the suppliers are not giving medicine. First, that money should be paid. Second, there is nothing available in the Maveli store. Crores are what Supplyco has to pay to the suppliers. That money should be paid. The honorarium of ASHA workers should be increased when they are on strike. The money to be paid to government employees should be paid. Benefits should be given to Anganwadi employees. Benefits should be given to construction workers. It has been three months since the poor cooking workers in schools were paid their salaries. That should be paid.
The amount this government has to pay is about one and a half lakh crores. When the Oommen Chandy government left power, Kerala's total public debt was 1.5 lakh crore. When this government will leave power in 2026, Kerala's total public debt will be six lakh crore. This is a government that has made Kerala miserable,' said VD Satheesan.
