Planning to book Tatkal tickets for emergency train journey? Online booking rules to change from July 1

NEW DELHI: Only those who have verified their Aadhaar can book Tatkal tickets from July 1. The Railway Board has issued a circular. Passengers who authenticate using Aadhaar can book Tatkal through the IRCTC website and app. In other words, only users who link their Aadhaar number with their IRCTC user profile and verify it successfully will be able to book Tatkal tickets through IRCTC.

In addition to this, Aadhaar-based OTP verification will be mandatory for online Tatkal bookings from July 15. OTP verification done through the passenger's mobile phone has also been made mandatory for bookings made at railway counters and through authorized agents from July 15. Authorized ticket agents are not allowed to book Tatkal tickets in the first 30 minutes. The restriction is from 10 am to 10.30 am for AC classes and from 11 am to 11.30 am for non-AC classes.
