CALIFORNIA: It has been reported that a Malayali is stranded on the famous Denali mountain in the United States. Shaikh Hasan Khan, a Malayali mountaineer, got stuck while attempting to plant a flag in honour of Operation Sindoor to salute the Indian Army. It is believed that he was caught in a severe storm. A rescue mission is currently underway.

Shaikh Hasan Khan had recently expressed his joy at becoming the first Malayali to conquer the highest peaks across seven continents. Climbing Denali requires exceptional physical fitness and extensive experience. Although hundreds attempt to summit Denali every year, only about half of them succeed. Since 1932, over 120 people have died on Denali, making it a highly challenging and dangerous expedition despite its allure for adventure seekers.

Shaikh Hasan Khan is the son of Pandalam Poozhikad native M.A. Ali Ahmad Khan and J. Shahida. He had been working as an Assistant Section Officer in the Finance Department at the Secretariat. He summited Mount Everest in 2022.
