'Regret not supporting Nandita earlier': Rahul Easwar's new Facebook post ignites debate
Activist and public speaker Rahul Easwar expressed remorse for downplaying the serious allegations raised by actress Nandita against serial offender Savad back in 2023.
Rahul Easwar:
"I personally never supported Savad and never participated in any such discussion involving his incident. I opposed the heroic reception Savad received when he came out of jail after securing bail. At the same time, I understand what the people who garlanded Savad on the day might have gone through. Many men are thrown in jail under false sexual abuse charges and will have to endure a lifetime of shame even after coming out of jail.
Men's activism is not about supporting men regardless of what crime they commit. Men's activism is calling out wrong and at the same time advocating for people framed under false charges of sexual abuse.
In the incident, I had a telephonic conversation with Nandita. We should have taken the issues raised by Nandita more seriously that day, and I regret not doing so.”
