Glass piece found in biryani bought from hotel in district, youth sustains throat injuries, hospitalized

KOLLAM: A youth got a glass piece from the biryani he bought from a hotel. Sooraj, a temporary worker in Chithara Gram Panchayat, got the glass piece from the biryani he bought from a hotel in Chithara. Sooraj, who sustained injuries on his throat after the glass piece got stuck sought treatment in the hospital.

Sooraj bought four packets of biryani the other day at 1:30 pm. While eating biryani with his pregnant wife and brother at home, Sooraj bit the glass piece thinking it as chicken piece. He developed discomfort and understood that it was a glass piece when taken it out.

He then sought treatment at the Kadakkal Taluk Hospital. There are injuries on his throat. An X-ray was taken, but no glass piece was found inside the body. The hospital authorities had informed him to seek treatment if he experiences any physical difficulties. The youth later filed a complaint with the Food Security Department and the Kadakkal police. Sooraj said the owner of the hotel behaved badly when he was informed about the incident.
