'Convinced boy after much persuasion'; 40-year-old female teacher arrested for sexually assaulting minor student

MUMBAI: In an unusual case, a woman teacher was arrested in Mumbai for repeatedly sexually assaulting her student. The incident took place in Mumbai. The 40-year-old English teacher from a prominent school was arrested.

The arrested is a married woman and the mother of two children. In December 2023, various meetings were held in the school for a dance competition. The victim was studying in class 11th during that time. The woman teacher confessed to police about falling head over heels for the student during that time. All initial approaches were thwarted by the student, but the teacher didn’t give up. She sought help from another woman outside the school to coerce the student. The teacher’s friend met with the student and convinced him that older-younger relationships were normal in contemporary times. After many such persuasions, the boy agreed to meet his teacher.

The teacher then took the student to a secluded area in her car and stripped him naked. The student was then sexually assaulted. Soon after, the student developed mental trauma and sought medications to overcome anxiety and other problems.

The English teacher, reported to be an alcoholic, has purportedly taken the student even to five-star hotels to sexually assault him. The incident came to light after parents quizzed the student over his atypical behaviour. The family didn’t complain as the student was about to leave school, and they thought it would be the end of their troubles. However, the teacher came back for the student even after he had passed out of school.

The teacher then sought the help of the domestic maid working in the student’s apartment to approach him. Having had enough of the troubles, the family decided to approach the police. The teacher was arrested under various sections related to child abuse.
