Nipah raises concern again; three districts on alert
KOZHIKODE: Health Minister Veena George aid that an alert has been issued in three districts in the state following reports of Nipah cases in the state. Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode are on alert.
The collector has informed that businesses and educational institutions should not be allowed to operate in the wards declared as Nipah containment zones in Palakkad. The Mannarkkad AEO has directed temporary closure of three schools in the area.
A 38-year-old woman from Palakkad, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Perinthalmanna in Malappuram with symptoms, has now been confirmed to have contracted Nipah. The result of the samples sent to the Pune Virology Lab has turned positive. More than 100 people are on her high-risk contact list. The woman's health condition is critical.
