KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has ordered the government to submit a report based on the standardization of marks in the KEAM entrance exam. This order was made while considering the appeal filed by the government regarding the KEAM entrance exam. The appeal was considered by a bench headed by Justice Anil K Narendran.

The Kerala government's claim is that this step is to consider everyone in equal proportion. If the ratio is taken in the old way, the students of the Kerala syllabus will be behind. The government also said that in the new process, there will be an equal ratio for both the syllabus.

The high court had quashed the results of the KEAM entrance exam for professional courses in Kerala, including engineering, the other day. This order was on the plea stating that the method of determining the rank of the KEAM entrance exam is detrimental to the students of the CBSE syllabus.

To help the students of the state syllabus, the new formula for determining the weightage score was introduced an hour before the declaration of the results. Justice D K Singh ruled that this is illegal. Applications were invited as per the prospectus that has been in place since 2011. The court had earlier ordered that a new rank list be prepared accordingly.

The results were declared on July 1. The court had asked on what basis the last-minute change was made in the system that had been in place for 14 years. The reason may be that the state syllabus students had gone behind. The court had also clarified that the action cannot be justified.
