CPI leader shot dead, attackers came in swift car, threw chilli powder on victim
HYDERABAD: CPI leader Chandu Nayak was shot dead by unidentified assailants. The incident happened Tuesday morning at 7.30 am during his morning stroll at Shalivahana Nagar Park in Hyderabad’s Malakpet. The assailants came in a swift car.
Police said there were three to four people in the group. The attackers first threw chilli powder on him. When Nayak tried to flee, they fired five to six rounds on him. He died on the spot itself.
Soon after shooting him, the assailants fled from the area. Chandu Nayak was also a member of CPI state council. Nayak’s wife alleged that her husband had an enmity with CPI (ML) leader Rajesh in Devaruppala. The police are not ruling out the possibility of this being a political murder.
A murder case has been registered. Special teams have been formed to nab the accused and to identify them. Police said more would be revealed when the investigation progresses.
