Posted obscene videos on Instagram, earned up to 30,000 per month; four people, including three women, arrested

LUCKNOW: Four individuals- three women and one man- were arrested by Sambhal Police for allegedly posting obscene videos and using vulgar language on Instagram. The incident took place in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to media reports, the accused were earning between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 per month through these videos. The Instagram accounts were identified as belonging to three women — Mehrul Nisha alias Paari, Mehak, and Hina. Reports suggest that two of the women are sisters. Police stated that the women created sexually explicit videos and uploaded them on social media in an attempt to gain more followers and increase their income. A man named Jarrar Alam was arrested for assisting in the production and promotion of these videos.

“Everyone has the right to express themselves on social media, but that does not mean public decency and social norms can be ignored,” said the police.

The arrests were made based on complaints filed by local residents, with the case being registered on Sunday.

The charges were filed under Section 296(B) (related to obscene acts and songs) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. Authorities noted that the arrests serve as a warning to others engaging in similar offences.
