'Am I crazy to go to Wayanad and build houses for victims of disaster? Why don't you ask anything to Boby Chemmanur?'
Akhil Marar has responded to those asking about the three houses he had promised to build for the landslide victims in Wayanad. His response came through a Facebook video.
"I initially thought I didn’t need to respond to the baseless allegations made by these ignorant, narrow-minded commies who don’t know anything. But for the past few days, similar questions have been popping up in Facebook videos and posts. People are asking where the three houses that Akhil Marar promised to build in Wayanad are.
In addition to taxpayers' money, a Chief Minister launched a fundraising drive during the disaster, seemingly aiming to profit from the crisis, and managed to collect Rs 5,000 crore. When reports emerged that this amount was being spent without proper oversight, I voiced my opposition. The entire population of Kerala is now suffering and left in ruins because of the mismanagement of this ruler.
At that point, I stated that I wouldn’t contribute to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund but would instead take direct action by building a house myself. I even mentioned that if the affected individuals came to Kollam, I could build up to three houses. A friend had volunteered 30 cents of land for this purpose. I personally visited Wayanad, spoke to the action council, and assured them that if there were eligible victims who hadn’t received government assistance, I would definitely build a house for them. Those who are now questioning me are completely unaware of these efforts.
If I promised to build a house with my own money and didn’t, what exactly can you do to me? File a case? Go to court? You won’t get anywhere. But if the Chief Minister or others misuse money collected from the public, including what's taken from the common man, they can definitely be dragged to court.
Why don’t you ask anything to Boby Chemmanur, who promised to build 100 houses? When the government has crores of rupees, do you think I’m crazy to go there and build houses with my own money?" Akhil Marar said in the video.
