Bharat Mata question; VC walks out of press conference
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: VC Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal ended the press conference and walked out after he was asked questions about the installation of Bharat Mata's picture in the Senate Hall. He said that the questions were getting political. However, the VC later told Kerala Kaumudi that he ended the press conference because Minister Bindu had called him for a meeting.
The Bharat Mata question was raised when the VC said about the picture of Che Guevara being placed at the entrance of the university. The VC replied that the picture of ONV Kurup, who had previously taught here, should have been placed. "The suspension against the registrar is for insulting the governor. Evidence could be destroyed if he continues in the post of registrar. That is why he was removed. The protest of those who are pretending to be students is a fraud. I did not come because I thought that I should not come and add fuel to the situation when they are rioting. I came because they informed me that they will not stop the VC. Don't show any buffoonery. If you behave well, people will accept you. In the name of protest, they are bringing aggressors. Children are running away to other states out of fear. Poor children are taking loans."
