Are private buses on strike from tomorrow? To hold talks with minister
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has invited private bus operators for talks again after their announcement of an indefinite strike from tomorrow. Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar will hold talks with the bus operators today. The joint committee of bus owners had announced the strike raising various demands.
The private bus owners had staged a strike on July 7. After this, a section of private bus owners withdrew from the indefinite strike after the government held talks. This was after pointing that an agreement was reached in the talks held with Minister Ganesh Kumar.
Meantime, other organizations went ahead with the strike. The permits of buses that have been operating for a long time should be renewed on time, the fare for students should be hiked, withdraw making mandatory police clearance certificate for bus employees, end excessive fines through e-challans and stop the practice of imposing electronic devices on buses are the demands raised by them.
