Heavy rainfall, light drizzle expected in Kerala; Warning issued to five districts, including Ernakulam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A heavy rainfall possibility is on the cards in Kerala for the next five days, said the Indian Meteorological Department. On the 25th, an orange alert was issued in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts.

On the 26th, an orange alert has also been issued in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. The possibility of very heavy rain has been predicted in isolated places.

The Indian Meteorological Department informed that strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph are likely in isolated places in Kerala today and tomorrow (22/07/2025 & 23/07/2025). Strong winds with a speed of 50 to 60 kmph are also likely in isolated places from the 24th to the 26th.

  • Those living in areas prone to landslides, mudslides, and mountain floods should move to safer places as per the instructions of the authorities.
  • Those living on riverbanks and downstream areas of dams should also anticipate the risk of danger and move as per the instructions of the authorities.
