Indian doctor's death in Sharjah: Dr Dhanalakshmi bids adieu, without fulfilling wish

KANNUR: Dr Dhanalakshmi, who passed away unexpectedly in Abu Dhabi the other day, bids adieu without being able to fulfil her wish to publish her fifth book. Dhanalakshmi had already completed an English novel and was awaiting publication. She was planning to release it in her hometown of Kannur and then at the Sharjah International Book Festival. From a very young age, Dhanalakshmi was drawn to creative writing, which soon morphed into active blogging. She was one of the first to receive an award for blogging in Kerala, and that too from prominent writer Sethu.

Her poetry collections Kanikonna and Kanakamunthirikal are notable. Her novels 'Raziya Parayaan Bakivechathu' and 'Ini Apoorva Urangatte' have also been published.

Dr. Dhanalakshmi was educated at St. Teresa's School. She completed her BDS from Manipal Kasturba Medical College and then practised at the Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital, Thalassery, for ten years. In the meantime, she got married. Her husband, Sujith, was in Abu Dhabi, and thus, Dr. Dhanalakshmi shifted her base to Abu Dhabi, where she worked as a dentist at Musaffah Life Care Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Dhanalakshmi's contribution to improving dental health through awareness programs is worth mentioning.

Dhanalakshmi is the daughter of the late Narayanan and Chandramathi, owners of Anandakrishna Bus Service in Kannur. Siblings: Anandakrishnan, Shivaram, Dr. Seethalakshmi.

Relatives in Kannur informed that the body, which will be brought home by tonight, will be cremated on Friday.
