Derogatory post: Complaint filed against Vinayakan
KOCHI: The Youth Congress has filed a complaint with the DGP against actor Vinayakan for insulting late leaders, including former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, on social media. The complaint, lodged by Youth Congress district president Sijo Joseph, stated that the actor’s Facebook post was hurtful to public sentiment and sharing such content on social media could disrupt public order. No police case has been registered yet.
The post reportedly contained derogatory remarks about Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and former Chief Ministers K. Karunakaran, Oommen Chandy, as well as former MP George Eden.
The other day, Vinayakan had paid tribute to Achuthanandan at a public gathering organised by the local community at the Ernakulam KSRTC bus stand. After visuals of the tribute emerged, widespread criticism surfaced on social media against the actor. Vinayakan responded by posting screenshots of personal attacks against him, but later deleted them amid mounting backlash. Yesterday afternoon, he again posted on Facebook.
