Heavy rains continue: Holiday declared on Saturday for educational institutions in three districts
KOCHI: In view of the heavy rains continuing across the state, district collectors have declared a holiday tomorrow for educational institutions in three districts — Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, and Kottayam. Authorities have advised children to remain indoors and avoid playing in water bodies and other dangerous areas.
Ernakulam
Considering the strong winds and heavy rainfall and with an orange alert in place, District Collector N. S. K. Umesh has announced a holiday on Saturday (July 26) for all educational institutions in Ernakulam district, including professional colleges. The holiday also applies to anganwadis and tuition centres. Heads of institutions have been directed to adjust academic schedules to compensate for the lost learning time.
Kottayam
Due to the continuing rain and the possibility of heavy rainfall and strong winds as predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department, the Kottayam district administration has declared a holiday on Saturday (July 26) for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, anganwadis, vacation training centres, and religious study centres. However, previously scheduled examinations will be conducted as planned.
Pathanamthitta
In view of the heavy rains, the Pathanamthitta district collector has declared a holiday tomorrow for all educational institutions, including anganwadis, schools, professional colleges, and tuition centres.
