Obscene content: 25 OTT platforms banned

NEW DELHI: The Central Government has banned 25 OTT platforms for streaming obscene content. Platforms such as Ullu, Desiflix, Big Shots, and Wow Entertainment are among those banned. Internet service providers have been instructed to block access to these services within India.

The action was taken by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology after it was found that these platforms were violating the country’s IT laws and anti-obscenity regulations by circulating pornographic material and so-called “erotic web series” meant for adults. The ban aims to prevent obscene content from reaching children.
