'House and plot for sale; lost my daughter, then my son'; Victim's mother going through a tough phase

THRISSUR: The house and plot of the victim, who was raped and murdered by Govindachamy, are now put on sale. The victim’s mother cited financial reasons as to be behind the decision.

Almost a year ago, the victim’s brother committed suicide.

Victim’s mother:

“My son died almost ten months back. I don’t have words left to talk about that issue. Alcohol is ruining many lives. We tried everything possible to change his life, but failed. However, never once did a thought run through me that my son would commit suicide.

We were left alone after the murder in 2011, and nobody cared to help us except one. I am not revealing the identity of the person. My son took a job to help the family come out of grief, but it ended up in more tragedy. For a long time, we have been trying to sell this house.

It's a house with two bedrooms, a sitting room, a hall, a kitchen and two bathrooms. I am solely dependent on my pension money for future living. If my daughter-in-law gets a job in Ottapalam, we will shift there. For everything to fall in place, this house needs to be sold. I hope things get normal soon.”
